Role Purpose

The Director of Project Controls is responsible for designing, leading, and embedding a best‑in‑class project controls function across Amentum’s Energy & Environment International (E&E‑I) business. Reporting to the Vice President for Finance, with a dotted line to the Vice President for Delivery Excellence & Assurance, the Director ensures cost, schedule, and risk performance is governed with accuracy, discipline, and transparency across the entire portfolio.

A core mandate of this role is to develop and implement a standardised, scalable framework that created the ‘Amentum Way’ of Project Controls that is used consistently across the business line. This framework must be recognised as the single, authoritative approach for cost, schedule, risk and performance management across E&E-I. It must be flexible enough to apply proportionately to smaller, low‑risk consultancy tasks and service orders, while equally being robust enough to govern multi‑billion‑dollar EPC programmes.

It must also be designed so that it can integrate seamlessly with client requirements, contractual obligations and industry standards, ensuring Amentum remains both competitive and compliant while maintaining a high standard of delivery discipline.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership

Define and deliver the Project Controls Strategy for E&E‑I, fully aligned with finance, digital delivery, and governance frameworks.

Lead the creation of The Amentum Way of Project Controls, ensuring it provides a consistent, repeatable, best‑practice approach for project controls across all divisions. This will also include taking the best of what the corporation has today.

Ensure the framework is scalable, proportionate and adaptable across the full spectrum of project sizes and complexities.

Ensure the approach is flexible enough to align with client systems, reporting needs, and contractual requirements, without compromising Amentum standards.

Functional Oversight

Provide executive oversight for cost management, schedule control, risk management, EVM, estimating, and performance forecasting across all projects.

Ensure all projects adopt the core elements of The Amentum Way of Project Controls, with proportional governance based on project categorisation and risk.

Guarantee the accuracy, quality and timeliness of all project performance data used for decision‑making and corporate reporting.

Systems, Tools & Digital Integration

Lead the deployment of best‑in‑class digital project controls tools, ensuring seamless integration with CostPoint, OnPoint, Workday, and other core systems.

Ensure the framework is digitised and supported by automated workflows and dashboards that scale from small projects to major programmes and align with the E&E‑I project & divisional reporting.

Drive advancements in 4D / 5D planning, integrated cost / schedule risk analysis, and predictive forecasting.

Capability & Community Leadership

Build, lead, and mentor the Project Controls Community of Practice, ensuring all practitioners meet SQEP expectations.

Develop the competency framework and career progression pathways for project controls professionals.

Promote a cohesive culture of professionalism, continuous learning, and excellence across all business units.
