Job Overview

The Dermatology department is looking for an enthusiastic, forward‑thinking, and motivated nurse to join our team as a Band 6 Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist. You will work as a skilled practitioner and be responsible for the delivery of patient‑focused programming of care that addresses the complex and changing health and wellbeing needs of patients with dermatology‑related conditions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide high‑quality clinical practice, be proactive in clinical decision‑making, underpinned by theoretical and practical knowledge, and demonstrate improved patient care outcomes.
  • Take designated responsibility for discrete areas of operational management/clinical practice.
  • Support change, monitor and improve standards through supervision, evidence‑based practice, clinical audit, research, and education—promoting best practice by integrating evidence into practice.
  • Undertake holistic assessment of patients and carers’ needs, planning, implementing, and evaluating care delivery in response to changing healthcare needs.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of dermatology condition patterns, progression markers, and treatment options at each stage.
Person Specification Experience

Essential Criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of managing varying aspects of patient care.
  • Experience of working in partnership with all levels of staff, evidencing the ability to plan and coordinate care provision.
Experience – Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of developing and implementing policies and protocols.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications

Essential Criteria
  • Registered Healthcare Professional (NMC).
  • First Level degree (HEI Level
    6) or equivalent in an undergraduate base profession.
Qualifications – Desirable Criteria
  • Specialist post‑graduate education/qualifications or training relevant to dermatology.
  • Other training relevant to area clinical practice (e.g., British Dermatological Nursing Group (BDNG), British Association of Dermatology (BAD)).
