Established specialist manufacturer and distributor of fastenings seeks an experienced Swiss-type CNC Setter/Operator to join manufacturing team. The role involves setting, running, and maintaining Swiss-type sliding head machines to produce high-quality precision components.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in setting and maintaining CNC machines, including tooling changeovers and troubleshooting. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail and a good understanding of metal forming processes. Proven experience as a CNC Setter is required.

CNC Setter duties:
- Set up and operate 5 axis Swiss-type CNC sliding head machines
- Understand and work confidently with G & M code ISO programs, including making edits and adjustments as well as creating new programs
- Set and manage tooling, offsets, and tool wear
- Monitor production to ensure components meet specification and tolerance requirements using micrometres, verniers, and other measuring equipment
- Troubleshoot machining issues and support continuous improvement
- Work from engineering drawings and job documentation
- Report to Production Manager, planning, tool room and maintenance to ensure efficient running and minimal downtime
- Document production data (e.g., quantities, scrap rates, machine time, maintenance) and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Inspect products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications
- Monitor production quality and adjust settings where necessary
- Work closely with the Production manager and engineering teams to meet production goals
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Skills required by CNC Setter:
- Proven experience setting and running Swiss-type CNC machines
- Good understanding of ISO programming
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience working to tight tolerances
- Strong attention to detail and a reliable work ethic
- Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
- Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently
- Experience of Tornos CT20 Lathe or any of the following Citizen, Star, Tsugami, Hanwha, Nexturn, Index TRAUB, Doosan/DN Solutions swiss turn lathes - desirable

Part/Full-time .75 hours per week
Salary:
Up to £35,000.00 per year dependent upon experience
