Job Description
The Regina Area requires the services of a dynamic and team-oriented fellowship trained urogynecologist to join the Regina Area Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The successful candidate will cover on call duties, operating room time, and clinic duties.
Urogynecologists maintain a fee-for-service, independent practice within Regina. There are currently two practising urogynecologists in Regina. A city-wide pooled referrals system for gynecology consultation will support the successful candidate in establishing practice. Annually there are over 800 urogynecology referrals. Call coverage is shared with a patient-centered and very collegial call group within the specialty and an on-call premium is provided for on-call availability.
Participation in the Gynecology call rota will be mandatory. Participation in the Obstetrical call rota will be optional, based on the successful candidate’s choice to have an obstetrical practice.
Gynecological and Obstetrical services are based at the Regina General Hospital. The operating theatres have recently been renovated and are state of the art for minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. All subspecialist gynecologic surgeons are allocated a minimum of three days per month in the main operating theatre, averaged over one year. Further allocation is given to individual surgeons based on patient waitlists.
Cystoscopy is provided in the ambulatory endoscopy suite at the Regina General Hospital and will be available for a minimum of two half day per month. The Women’s Health Centre provides outpatient gynecologic procedures including hysteroscopy and colposcopy. Access to the Women’s Health Centre procedure rooms will also be available based on the successful candidate’s preferred scope of gynecologic practice.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the . The successful candidate will be eligible for a teaching appointment with the College of Medicine.
Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification with the in obstetrics and gynecology, be eligible for provisional or regular licensure from the and have completed fellowship training in urogynecology.
This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.
