The role of an Assistant Cook at Akari Care is to play a pivotal part in ensuring that the meals served to the residents are of outstanding quality, wholesome and nutritious. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to create menus, plate up and arrange food trollies in an attractive way to stimulate the residents' appetite and enthusiasm to eat.

Main duties of the job

As the Assistant Cook, you will be responsible for supporting the kitchen team in creating delicious and nutritious meals for the residents. You will have the opportunity to develop menus, plate up food attractively, and ensure that individual dietary needs and cultural preferences are accommodated. You will also be involved in coaching and developing the kitchen team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

As the pivotal link between the kitchen and the serving areas you will have the autonomy to create menus, plate up and arrange food trollies in an attractive way in order for our residents to gain enthusiasm and a stimulated appetite to eat.

What we require from you:

City & Guilds 706 1&2, or equivalent (achieved or working towards)

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Assistant Cook or Cook experience with similar environment /surrounding

Supervisory or Line Management experience

A caring nature to give everyone a personal approach

Proven ability to lead by example, motivate a team and delegate effectively

Flexible and adaptable to changes at short notice

Warm, approachable, and engaging persona

Respect everyone, treating others as you would expect to be treated

Resilient and adaptable to differing needs of colleagues and residents

Person Specification Qualifications
  • City & Guilds 706 1&2, or equivalent (achieved or working towards), Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, Assistant Cook or Cook experience in a similar environment, Supervisory or Line Management experience, and a caring nature with the ability to provide a personal approach.
