Facilities Supervisor - Portering
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is sought to appoint a Facilities Supervisor covering Portering Services within Facilities (Central).
Job OverviewThis role supports the Facilities Coordinator in delivering efficient operational services provided by porters. The supervisor coordinates day‑to‑day activities of operational staff at Glan Clwyd and community hospitals, works rotational shifts 24/7, and travels across the BCUHB Central Area.
Main Duties of the Job- Work in all areas of the department.
- Communicate effectively at all levels, selecting the most practical method.
- Ensure staff required for patient movement across Glan Clwyd Hospital are available.
- Ensure medical gases are ordered timely and conduct audits of gas cylinders.
- Handle residential accommodation keys and update accommodation manager as needed.
- Maintain mandatory training compliance and undertake staff appraisals (PADR); report on training needs.
- Participate in induction and training of new staff, recording accordingly.
- Assist in staff management (sickness absence, recruitment, leave booking) using appropriate system.
- Use computer software (Excel) to keep accurate, up‑to‑date records in compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- Report repair and maintenance matters to Management, arrange disposal of condemned equipment.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge- GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Working in Portering or Facilities
- Previous supervisory role
- Experience of people management and workforce planning
- Able to deal with multi‑faceted problems in a stressful environment
- Able to deliver training
- Able to undertake personal development reviews for staff
- Able to organise and manage workloads
- Computer literacy
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Flexible approach to work
- Able to travel between multiple sites
