Estimator, Construction, Civil Engineering

Matchbox Consulting Group is partnering with an award winning design-build general contracting construction company in search of an intermediate level Estimator for their office in Richmond. This role will give you the chance to work on projects all over Western Canada and the US, building estimates and take-offs from simple blueprints and conceptual designs.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for design-build and tendered projects across multiple sectors (commercial, industrial, residential).
• Conduct quantity take-offs, review design drawings, and identify constructability challenges and value-engineering opportunities.
• Obtain and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations; develop trade scopes of work.
• Participate in project handover meetings and assist with budget updates during pre-construction.
• Support the preparation of bid packages, budgets, and cost summaries.
• Maintain and update unit cost databases and estimating tools.
• Collaborate with project management, design, and procurement teams to ensure alignment between budget, design intent, and construction feasibility.
• Contribute to process improvement and cost control initiatives within the estimating department.

• 3–6 years of estimating experience with a general contractor or design-build firm.
• Background in commercial, institutional, or multi-family wood-frame or concrete construction.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Planswift, Bluebeam, Timberline/Sage 300, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of construction methods, drawings, and specifications.
• Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, analytical mindset, and collaborative work ethic.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.???????
