Product Design Engineer, Product Development

We are experiencing continuous growth and have an immediate opening for the Product Design Engineer, Product Development position in our Richmond, BC office. The position will report to the Senior Manager, Product Development. The role is key to research, design, development, and bringing industry-leading products to market.

Hybrid location: onsite Monday–Thursday, remote Fridays.

Base Pay Range

CA $70,000.00/yr – CA$/yr

Key Responsibilities
  • Design new products and continually improve and innovate existing products.
  • Create 3D models, renderings, and drawings for internal review and external submissions to manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Apply advanced understanding of design principles to optimize product design within cost, quality, and safety parameters.
  • Develop and execute test protocols, analyzing results to drive product improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including marketing, inventory, and manufacturing to align product design with business goals.
  • Produce technical documentation and manuals, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Set up production of our products and raw materials in various countries, including all aspects of quality control.
  • Drive product and process improvement efforts, exploring cost‑effective materials and design simplifications.
  • Create and implement improvements to project plans, procedures and specifications.
  • Stay current on industry trends, materials, processes, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for product innovation.
  • Conduct competitive research and benchmarking to ensure products remain relevant and differentiated in the marketplace.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the role as may be assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of product development experience with consumer products.
  • Ability to translate conceptual ideas into practical, manufacturable designs.
  • Post‑secondary degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Proficient in Solid Works and/or CAD engineering software.
  • Experienced with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (metal fabrication, injection molding) and materials.
Compensation

$70,000 – $100,000 per year.
