Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Team Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the detailed design of our systems. You will work in multi‑disciplinary teams while being trained and mentored by senior leaders. To excel in this role, you must be highly organized, detail‑oriented, and a creative problem solver.
Responsibilities- Translate process designs into code‑compliant, fabrication‑ready mechanical systems using Solid Works, while ensuring mechanical integrity and adherence to relevant codes.
- Participate in collaborative design sessions with multi‑disciplinary teams to meet performance, safety, and compliance requirements while identifying risks and opportunities.
- Prepare accurate fabrication drawings using GD&T, and maintain both internal and external engineering documentation.
- Support Production by delivering clear, build‑ready documentation and assisting with on‑site or shop floor troubleshooting when needed.
- Maintain and improve the CAD database and design standards.
- Take full ownership of the physical integrity and performance of assigned designs.
- A degree in Mechanical or Integrated Engineering.
- 1-3 years of relevant post‑graduation work experience.
- Registration as an EIT through EGBC or another Canadian engineering regulator.
- Proficiency in Solid Works, including routing, large assemblies, weldments, sheet metal, drawings, and PDM systems.
- Familiarity with industrial plant design, including P&IDs and concurrent engineering practices.
- Experience using PLM (e.g., Aras Innovator) and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of applicable piping codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, BPVC, CSA B51‑14).
- Strong hands‑on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience designing structural frames and/or high‑pressure stainless steel piping systems (an asset).
- Knowledge of design for assembly and LEAN methodologies (preferred).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to contribute to hands‑on work when required.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to sites within North America as needed.
