Intermediate Accountant

About the Opportunity

• Preparation of financial statements
• Notice to readers (NTRs)
• Audit and review engagements
• Detail oriented and good management skills to plan and budget for year-end engagement working papers, includes tax planning, financial statements and corporate tax returns.
• Preparation and/or review of corporate tax returns, estate tax returns and personal tax returns.
• Analysis of various types of corporate and personal tax issues, including dealing with Notices of Assessment, Objections and other tax planning or tax compliance issues.
• Well-developed working and academic knowledge of ASPE, ASNPO, CAS, GAAS and IFRS.
• Knowledge of the accounting and taxation needs for Canadian private companies, including preparation or review of the annual year-end financial statements and corporate tax returns as well as the ongoing coordination and planning during the year for clients.
• Perform other ad-hoc projects as required
• Work overtime and Saturdays as required during personal tax season
• Identify potential issues and provide recommended solutions to clients
• Provide superior client service

We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications:

• 1-4 years of full-cycle accounting experience
• CPA in progress is a must
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
• Case Ware, Case View, I-firm Tax Prep, Quick Books is a strong nice-to-have
• Public accounting experience is a large asset
• Experience reporting under ASPE is a plus

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 /year.
