Resident Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site leadership and technical expertise to oversee the construction project from start to finish.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders, including architects, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications.
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of construction activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Conduct regular inspections of the construction site to identify potential issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Resolve any technical and engineering issues that may arise during the construction process, and provide proactive solutions to keep the project on track.
• Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, inspection records, and change orders.
• Manage and supervise construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure effective coordination of project activities.
• Collaborate with the project management team to identify and implement best practices for construction management and quality control.
• Communicate regularly with project stakeholders to provide updates on project progress, address concerns, and facilitate smooth project delivery.
• Uphold a strong commitment to safety, ensuring that all construction activities comply with safety standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with the design team to review and approve construction drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
• Manage the procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies required for the construction project, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective solutions.
• Conduct regular meetings with project stakeholders to discuss project progress, challenges, and resolutions, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities, local communities, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure project compliance and community engagement.
• Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure that construction work meets design specifications and industry standards.
• Lead value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs and resources without compromising quality or safety.
• Oversee the commissioning and testing of building systems and infrastructure to ensure functional performance and compliance with project requirements.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers, site staff, and construction workers to enhance their skills, knowledge, and safety awareness.
• Implement environmental sustainability practices and initiatives throughout the construction project to minimize the project's impact on the environment.
• Prepare and present project progress reports, budget analyses, and risk assessments to senior management and project stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
• Proven experience as a Resident Engineer or similar role in construction projects, with a focus on educational facilities preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of construction management processes, building codes, and industry standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency in construction management software and MS Office applications.
