The Communications and Networks Engineering Department, College of Engineering at Prince Sultan University, is seeking applicants with the rank of Lab Engineer in Electrical Engineering for its upcoming Academic Year 2026/2027, which starts in August 2026. The successful candidate will be a hands‑on engineer who works closely with students in our Electrical Engineering laboratories and supports them in a wide range of projects, hackathons, competitions, and extracurricular activities.
The role is primarily laboratory‑ and student‑centered rather than lecture‑focused.
- Preparing, conducting, and continuously improving laboratory sessions and experiments in core Electrical Engineering areas (e.g., circuits, electronics, power, machines, logic design, microprocessor design, PCB, and automation).
- Providing practical guidance and technical support to students during labs, projects, and prototyping activities.
- Coaching and mentoring student teams participating in local, national, and international hackathons, engineering competitions, innovation challenges, and exhibitions.
- Supporting and co‑advising student clubs and extracurricular initiatives related to Electrical Engineering (e.g., IEEE student branch, robotics and automation, energy and sustainability activities).
- Organizing and running technical workshops, bootcamps, and training sessions to enhance students’ practical skills and readiness for competitions.
- Maintaining, calibrating, and upgrading laboratory equipment, tools, and software, and ensuring safe, organized, and well‑documented lab environments.
- Collaborating with faculty on senior design projects, open days, showcases, and outreach activities that highlight student achievements and program strengths.
- Hold at least a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field from a reputable institution.
- Have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant hands‑on laboratory experience in Electrical Engineering.
- Demonstrate strong practical skills in setting up, running, and troubleshooting Electrical Engineering experiments and laboratory setups.
- Show proven experience in supporting or leading student teams in competitions, hackathons, technical challenges, or similar student‑centered activities.
- Exhibit a clear commitment to student development, mentoring, and active engagement beyond the classroom (clubs, projects, events).
- Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills and be able to work effectively in a multicultural, student‑centered academic environment.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a proactive attitude toward improving labs, activities, and student experience.
- Proven knowledge and hands‑on experience with:
- Power systems and protection training panels (relays, breakers, distribution models, etc.)
- PLCs, microcontrollers, and embedded systems (e.g., Arduino, PIC, STM
32, Raspberry Pi) - Robotics, sensors, actuators, and basic mechatronics/automation kits
- Renewable energy training systems (e.g., solar PV, wind, inverters, smart grid/energy lab setups)
- Electrical and electronic measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, function generators, multimeters, data acquisition systems)
- Engineering software commonly used in EE labs (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Multisim, PSIM/other circuit simulators)
- One‑year renewable contract (renewable subject to Dean/Director and student evaluation) and a competitive salary package based on academic qualification, rank and teaching experience as stated above.
