Job DescriptionParsons are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (Cargo Apron) to support engineering review, construction supervision, and field engineering activities on a major airfield development project. This role requires a strong electrical engineering background with specialized experience in cargo apron electrical systems, including power distribution, apron lighting interfaces, ground power units (GPU), fixed electrical ground power (FEGP), and coordination with airfield ground lighting (AGL) systems.
The ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience delivering large-scale airport or airfield electrical works in compliance with aviation authority and airport standards.
What You’ll Be Doing- Lead inspection and supervision of electrical works associated with cargo apron infrastructure, including LV/MV power distribution, substations, cabling, earthing, and lighting interfaces.
- Verify installation workmanship, materials, and methods comply with approved drawings, specifications, and relevant electrical and aviation standards.
- Identify, document, and track non-conformances, coordinating corrective actions with contractors and project teams.
- Review electrical design drawings, load calculations, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications related to cargo apron electrical systems.
- Evaluate contractor shop drawings, method statements, and temporary power arrangements for compliance with design intent and safety requirements.
- Review technical submittals for equipment such as transformers, switch gear, panels, GPUs, FEGP systems, and apron lighting components.
- Provide technical comments, approvals, and recommendations in coordination with design consultants and project management.
- Provide on-site electrical engineering support during construction, installation, and testing of cargo apron electrical systems.
- Interpret electrical drawings and resolve field issues, coordinating with civil, AGL, and systems teams to ensure proper interfaces.
- Support testing, commissioning, and energization of electrical systems in operational or restricted airside environments.
- Coordinate daily with contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to align electrical works with cargo apron construction schedules.
- Participate in site meetings, technical workshops, inspections, and coordination sessions with airport authorities.
- Ensure clear communication of technical requirements and electrical safety practices across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE requirements, electrical safety rules, and airside work permits.
- Identify hazards related to live electrical systems, night works, and operations within restricted cargo apron areas.
- Support implementation of safety controls in accordance with airport safety management systems (SMS).
- Maintain accurate inspection records, engineering review logs, test results, and snag lists.
- Prepare daily and weekly progress reports covering electrical construction and engineering review activities.
- Review and approve electrical method statements, inspection test plans (ITPs), material submittals, and technical queries.
- Oversee testing and commissioning of cargo apron electrical systems including insulation resistance testing, functional testing, and system integration.
- Coordinate with stakeholders for power energization, operational readiness, and handover activities.
- Ensure completion of as-built drawings, test certificates and operation and maintenance manuals.
- Ensure electrical works comply with ICAO, FAA, IEC, IEEE, airport authority standards, and local electrical codes.
