Tunneling Specialist

Tunneling Specialist will be ensuring that the client requirements are fulfilled by the design builder. Responsible to assure all tunneling work is properly planned, designed, and coordinated with all affected parties. See to it that the work is sequenced and constructed in accordance with project requirements and industry best practices. This position to be based at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

• Review routing studies, design guidelines, geotechnical studies, and risk and gap analysis.
• Conduct and coordinate tunnel design reviews, review tunneling schedules, coordinate interface sessions, prepare scopes of work and estimates for design changes, and prepare technical memos and studies for design alternates.
• Provide technical field support evaluating RFI’s technical submittals and change order requests. Coordinate design issues during construction, provide cost estimates for technical support services, update guidelines and standards, and coordinate updates for best practices documents.
• Assure the design-builder properly plans, schedules sequences and implements their schedule to reflect the project requirements and milestones.
• Assure proper field support documentation of construction activities and changes. Assure all field changes are properly engineered, approved and implemented. Assure the accurate completion of as-built documents.
• Assure the design-builder takes into account all stakeholder requirements and interface activities for each phase of the tunneling program.
• Prepare a list of requirements based on contract documents and stakeholder criteria and review them against Design-Builder submittals.
• Prepare a list of all design requirements and best practices and review the design/builders submittals to assure design safety conformance, fire life safety and fit for purpose of the tunnel design.

• Engineering or related degree.
• Minimum of 15 years experience post-graduation.
• Degree from a Western university (project requirement).
• Experience working on large and complex tunneling projects in a tunneling specialist role.
• Strong understanding of large project construction programs with multiple interface and stakeholder requirements including utilities, station construction, roadway and traffic and adjacent structures.
