Position: SENIOR RESEARCH ENGINEER

Summary

Provides leadership on complex engineering projects, overseeing research, development and commercialization of new biomedical technologies and managing technical teams focused on the development of innovative medical devices, diagnostic kits, products associated with nanotechnology or biotechnology, or AI-assisted solutions.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Leads and manages projects – assume responsibility for initiatives from initial concept through to successful commercialization.

Provides mentorship and guidance to engineers and technical staff, promoting a collaborative and innovative team environment.

Delivers expert support in troubleshooting, leads comprehensive investigations, and implements effective corrective and preventive actions.

Conducts thorough analysis of experimental and production data, interprets results, and develops comprehensive reports and presentations.

Coordinates multidisciplinary team members to ensure objectives are met, milestones are achieved, and quality standards are maintained throughout the development process.

Collaborates effectively with interdisciplinary teams to integrate solutions and accomplish project objectives.

Ensures the update on industry trends and new technologies to spot innovation opportunities.

Provides guidance and support to junior scientists and technicians.

Follows all laboratory safety rules and regulations.

Follows all Hospital-related Policies and Procedures.

Participates in self and staff education, training and development.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical/Biological Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, or other related fields is required.

Experience Required

Nine (9) years of directly related experience is required.

Other Requirements (Certificates)

Engineering from an accredited institution in a scientific discipline relevant to the field is required.
Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the operational functions within engineering industries.
A minimum of five (5) patents is required, with at least two (2) having been successfully commercialized.
Served as principal investigator or in an equivalent leading role within industry on a minimum of two (2) fully completed projects, as well as one (1) ongoing project.
Demonstrated proficiency in experimental design, process optimization, and the application of advanced tools for product development.
Demonstrated expertise in quality control/assurance and/or regulatory compliance, such as ISO/CE certification or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
Demonstrated expertise in communication, relationship management, leadership, and mentoring.
