IT Systems Administrator

Responsible for applying a knowledge and understanding of established policies and procedures to process financial transactions. Records, classifies and summarizes accounting data according to established procedures.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for overseeing the administration, maintenance, and support of Alfaisal University’s IT infrastructure, with a focus on database systems. This role ensures that all systems are secure, reliable, and perform optimally. The IT Systems Administrator will troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and provide proactive solutions to enhance system efficiency. Additionally, the position requires the development and documentation of technical procedures to address business needs, utilizing analytical and problem-solving skills to deliver effective solutions.

• Oversees the daily operation, management, and performance of servers, databases, and other IT infrastructure to installs, configures, and maintains Linux servers and systems.
• Ensures that all systems are secure, reliable, and function at optimal performance levels.
• Performs regular system updates, patches, and backups to maintain system integrity and security.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
• Configures and maintains network services such as DNS, DHCP, and NTP and security protocols to safeguard IT systems, data, and network infrastructure.
• Configures and manages firewalls, antivirus software, and other security measures to protect against cyber threats.
• Conducts regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Ensures network security by implementing firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures and compliance with industry security standards.
• Administers and maintains database systems, ensuring data integrity, availability, and security.
• Performs database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures as necessary.
• Optimizes database performance through routine maintenance, indexing, and query optimization.
• Provides technical support to end-users and manages user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Responds to and troubleshoot system alerts, hardware malfunctions, and software issues in a timely manner.
• Assists in the installation and configuration of new hardware and software.
• Uses configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to manage and deploy systems.
• Develops and maintains scripts to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency and documentation including configuration settings, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Ensures regular backups of critical data and systems, as well as the ability to recover systems in the event of a disaster.
• Performs all duties in a professional, component, and confidential manner.
• Performs all other related duties as required or assigned by the manager.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent from an accredited institute.
• Certification in Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). (Desirable).
• Minimum of four (04) years experience of various operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, UNIX, macOS) and experience with installation, configuration, and maintenance, and understanding of database systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle, MySQL) and other related fields.
