Operator - Ammonia Refrigeration Plant

Overview

The Ammonia Refrigeration Plant Operator is responsible for all activities involving operation and maintenance of the plant utilities inclusive of the ammonia refrigeration system, packaged units, and HVAC and all supporting equipment.

• Maintain the ammonia refrigeration system, packaged refrigeration units, and any other supporting equipment
• Ensure continuous operation of all the facility systems and equipment, and maintain facility conditions
• Coordinate operations and maintenance equipment
• Coordinate both internal and external resources for the maintenance of the facility
• Assist in technical analysis and provide real-time data on the status of refrigeration and operational equipment
• Work with the water treatment supplier to assure the equipment is operating correctly
• Ensure the ammonia compressors are operating safely and efficiently to reduce energy consumption
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and plumbing
• Handle maintenance emergencies as and when required
• Complete duties in accordance with quality assurance, Good Manufacturing Practices, safety and other company procedures, and in accordance with government regulations
• Maintain a safe work area
• Responsible for keeping assigned work area clean and tidy at all times and reporting any potential contamination, leakages and suspicious activity to a supervisor immediately

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 3 years of experience working with Ammonia refrigeration

• Ammonia refrigeration certification
• Certificate in HVAC
• Knowledge of equipment set-up, operating procedures and preventative maintenance techniques
• Experience working in a maintenance department
