• The role holder is responsible for supporting the integration of research partners and stakeholders into the program’s reach and ensuring alignment between activities concerned with the development, advancement and commercialization of technologies and the program strategies and opportunities.
• Identify research needs (data, alternatives, issues, etc.) for the manager to support the buy-in and uptake of stakeholders and regulatory bodies in new and emerging research, principles, technologies or practices.
• Match sector issues and research, development and commercialization opportunities based on potential to alleviate concerns and views on required studies to ensure alignment between information and research needs in the sectors and the sector’s work streams.
• Leverage relationships with external research entities in specific sectors currently working on, or with the ability to work on research related to program opportunities to ensure the program’s visibility and alignment with the oil sector’s long-term horizons.
• Identify targeted needs in research and expertise to help build the necessary capacity in emerging research and trends by connecting the program with available / interested partners.
• Identify organizations for collaboration, either through funding or partnerships between external academic and fundamental researchers / think tanks and sector managers overseeing opportunities and implementation within the program to gain clearer understanding of the stakes and impacts of their work.
• Submit and present potential challenges and opportunities pertaining to the disciplines and sectors enabled by research and development, which directly impact strategy and prioritization of opportunities.
• Coordinate with specific sector managers to identify potential hurdles and difficulties for opportunities or for R&D by ensuring parties find alignment of interests.
• Collaborate in the design, development and implementation of policies, tools and governance aligned to best practices in the matter around the program’s funding of research initiatives to ensure both oversight and alignment between program goals and research goals.

• Undergraduate degree in engineering, sciences (e.g. chemistry, materials science), management or similar; master’s degree preferred.

• 2 - 4 years’ experience in a research function in a similar government/entity.
