Operations Manager, Supply Chain / Intl. Trade
We are currently recruiting for a Operations Support Manager to join our team located at our Heywood depot. As Operations Support Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all on-site operational support activities to ensure daily operations are completed safely, accurately, and in full compliance with company Health & Safety policies and standard operating procedures. You will work collaboratively across the depot, supporting and influencing teams including operations, transport, engineering, stock office, administration, custodial, warehouse, training, HR, and quality, ensuring strong communication, efficient information flow, and consistent operational standards.
This is a highly visible, hands‑on leadership role where success is driven by both operational performance and colleague engagement.
- Lead, coach, and develop teams, providing clear direction, fair workload allocation, and performance feedback to drive productivity and engagement.
- Promote a positive, inclusive culture that supports accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee Stock Office and inventory control activities, ensuring inventory accuracy, effective recall management, and WMS data integrity.
- Maintain and improve inventory and administrative processes to reduce discrepancies, damage, and write‑offs.
- Work closely with Operations and Transport teams to ensure efficient information flow, on‑time truck turnaround, and accurate receipt and dispatch of goods.
- Monitor, manage, and report on site‑wide KPIs, ensuring performance is tracked and communicated effectively.
- Resolve day‑to‑day customer service and operational issues, including data errors, complaints, and queries.
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on operational, administrative, and inventory matters.
- Manage documentation and record retention, including bills of lading, proofs of delivery, invoices, and accounting credits.
- Improve office and depot productivity through effective use of systems, tools, and resources.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across operational support, administration, and inventory functions.
- Proven experience in a similar role such as operations support, depot support, inventory control, or warehouse leadership.
- Experience managing or supporting Stock Office / Inventory Control teams within a logistics or distribution environment.
- Strong working knowledge of WMS systems and proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to read, analyse, and interpret company policies, procedures, and operational agreements.
- A people‑focused leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation.
- Highly organised, with the ability to multi‑task, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and conflict‑management skills, including handling sensitive and complex matters professionally.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including the ability to support alternative shifts and weekends when required.
- Comfortable working in a cold storage environment (PPE provided).
