Hours:

37 per week – Monday to Friday

The Grounds Maintenance Operative/Driver will be responsible for operating tractors and associated machinery, performing grounds maintenance tasks, and supporting winter services as needed. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in grounds maintenance and machinery operation, with a focus on delivering high‑quality public services in a safe and efficient manner.

• Operating tractors and attachments such as mowers, trailers, snow ploughs, and gritters to support council services.
• Carrying out grounds maintenance activities including grass cutting, hedge trimming, and verge management.
• Assisting with winter maintenance tasks, including leaf clearance.
• Transporting materials, equipment, and waste using council vehicles.
• Performing routine checks, cleaning, and minor maintenance of machinery.
• Ensuring health and safety regulations and council policies are adhered to at all times.
• Collaborating with other council teams to deliver a high standard of public service.
• Providing excellent customer service when interacting with residents and visitors.

• £12.85 per hour PAYE (including holiday entitlement) or £15.96 per hour via Umbrella Ltd.

• Proven experience in operating tractors and related machinery.
• Valid UK driving licence (Category B essential; Category C1/C preferred).
• Knowledge of grounds maintenance, horticulture, and sports pitch maintenance.
• Ability to carry out basic mechanical checks and routine maintenance.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
• Good communication and team‑working skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing weather and scheduled work times.
