Accountancy Practice Bookkeeper

Overview

We are recruiting for a Practice Bookkeeper on behalf of an independently owned, growing and well‑respected firm of accountants based in Medway. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper looking for a long‑term role within a supportive practice environment.

• Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of owner‑managed business clients
• Preparing and maintaining accurate accounting records
• Bank reconciliations, purchase and sales ledgers
• VAT returns and general compliance work
• Liaising directly with clients, answering queries and building strong relationships
• Working closely with accountants to support year‑end and accounts preparation

• A minimum of two years’ bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice
• Strong client communication and relationship‑management skills
• Good working knowledge of bookkeeping software (e.g. Xero, Sage, Quick Books)
• A proactive, organised and detail‑focused approach
• The ability to work independently while being a strong team player
