Backend Software Engineer – Fully Remote

Job Summary
As a Backend Software Engineer at Deel, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, develop, and maintain high‑performance and highly scalable server-side components. You will play a key role in building the next generation of Deel’s product suite that powers global payroll, benefits, and compliance for millions of users worldwide.
Responsibilities

Collaborate with Frontend Engineers, Product Designers, and QA to deliver seamless user experiences.
Participate in end‑to‑end product planning, from discovery to deployment, ensuring technical feasibility and high quality.
Develop and continually enhance robust features, APIs, and services, focusing on performance, scalability, and security.
Write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code and track bugs using Dev Ops best practices.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to shared technical knowledge across the engineering organization.

Qualifications

Strong proficiency in Node.js and Type Script with deep understanding of best practices.
Expertise in Postgre

SQL: query optimization, migrations, and data modeling.
Solid grasp of object‑oriented programming principles, design patterns, and scalable system architecture.
Experience designing systems that handle high‑volume concurrency and large transaction volumes.
Hands‑on experience building secure RESTful APIs, JWT authentication, and queue‑based background services.
4+ years of experience as a full‑stack or backend software engineer in a SaaS environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

Experience with Serverless Architecture on AWS.
Knowledge of the Fin Tech industry and its unique challenges.
Background in building highly available, fault‑tolerant, and globally distributed systems.
