DevOps Software Engineer

Our client, a prominent name in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Dev Ops Software Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This exciting opportunity will involve working with cutting-edge technologies to develop innovative solutions for national security.

• Writing clean, secure code following a test-driven approach
• Creating code that is open by default and easy for others to reuse
• Translating logical designs into physical designs
• Producing detailed designs
• Effectively documenting all work using required standards, methods, and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate
• Working with well understood and emerging technologies and identifying appropriate patterns
• Integrating API/UI components with existing data stores and APIs
• Maintaining and developing existing architectural components including Data Ingest, Data Stores, and REST APIs
• Participating in sprint ceremonies with the agile team, attending daily stand-ups, epic decomposition, demos, and planning sessions
• Assisting the wider team to understand upcoming API features and their impact
• Collaborating with user researchers and representing users internally
• Explaining the difference between user needs and desires

We're looking for individuals with a blend of analytical thinking, stakeholder engagement, and a passion for national security. Ideal candidates will have:

• Experience in IT Dev Ops and Software Development
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, JavaScript, Python, or Java
• Expertise in front end frameworks - at least one of Angular
  
  JS, React, or VueJS
• Knowledge of Windows infrastructure - IIS, Windows Server
• Understanding of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server)
• Experience with containerisation - Docker and Kubernetes
• Proficiency in scripting languages - Bash or Power Shell
• Ability to learn "just in time" to adopt cutting-edge new technologies and paradigms
