Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Southampton

Rate: £55,000 per annum.

We are recruiting on behalf of a client in Southampton to join their embedded software team. This role combines hands‑on development with coordination of engineering activity, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both coding and guiding others.

• Develop embedded software across microcontroller, DSP and embedded Linux platforms
• Break down requirements into development tasks
• Support project planning and provide workload estimates
• Lead daily stand‑ups and assist teammates with debugging and problem‑solving
• Oversee system integration, prototype validation and demos
• Liaise with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers
• Contribute code in your specialist area and take part in peer reviews
• Support process improvements (CI, automated testing, documentation)

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar
• 5+ years embedded software development experience
• Strong C skills on embedded platforms
• Expertise in at least one of: embedded Linux, ARM microcontrollers or DSP
• Experience with unit testing, automated testing or TDD
• Clear communication and strong organisational skills

• £55,000 salary
