We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Consultant to provide clinical leadership in Paediatric dentistry and a specialist referral service for paediatric patients who meet our service criteria.
The post holder will work alongside the Clinical Director and Specialists in Paediatric Dentistry based in Barnsley and Rotherham in developing the paediatric provision within the whole service.
Main duties of the jobOur merged community dental service has a strong commitment to post graduate training, with trainees placed within the service from Sheffield and Leeds teaching hospitals. We aim to support patient pathways to deliver consultant/specialist-led care in the patients local area where possible
The applicant must be GDC registered and be eligible for a performer number. You should be on the GDC Specialist list in Paediatric Dentistry and have successfully completed a SAC approved 2 year Fixed Term Training Appointment in Paediatric Dentistry (eligible if completion within 6 months of the date of the interview) or equivalent training which follows on from a pre-CCST training period of 3 years or equivalent

Job responsibilitiesThe Post
Participation in the planning, development, delivery and monitoring of a comprehensive and holistic paediatric dental service in partnership with the Clinical Director and other Specialists in Paediatric Dentistry based in Barnsley and Rotherham.
Delivery of paediatric dental care for residents of Doncaster and the surrounding areas.
SCOPE AND RANGE
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of specialist care to paediatric patients. This will include providing comprehensive dental care under IHS sedation and general anaesthesia. The post holder will provide leadership for the Doncaster paediatric dental comprehensive care general anaesthetic list carried out at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. Dental care may be provided in community, hospital or domiciliary settings as a flexible approach will be required in responding to the clinical care needs of these patients.
The post holder will take a clinical leadership role in developing paediatric dentistry within the CDS team, including training and support to other members of the team. The post holder will be based at The Flying Scotsman Centre, Doncaster. The post holder may from time to time be expected to cover at clinics at Rotherham or Barnsley.
