The Role
The key purpose of the role is to provide specialist technical expertise across Class 2A–F works, undertaking plan assessments, site inspections, and enforcement activities to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations, Building Act 1984, and associated legislation. The post-holder will play a vital part in ensuring buildings meet required standards of health, safety, sustainability, energy efficiency, accessibility and design.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Managing a portfolio of Class 2A–F projects, including new applications, regularisation, and reversion cases
• Carrying out detailed plan appraisals, site inspections and assessments to ensure full regulatory compliance
• Investigating dangerous structures, unauthorised works, complaints and demolition control, initiating enforcement where required
• Preparing evidence files and attending court as the council’s expert witness when necessary
• Supervising and supporting Class 1 and Class 2A Registered Building Inspectors within the Building Control management framework
• Liaising with contractors, developers, statutory bodies, internal services and members of the public
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• Registration as a Registered Building Control Inspector Class 2a–f
• A relevant technical qualification equivalent to degree level
• Five years’ experience within Building Control (preferred)
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
• Experience working flexibly within a team and collaborating with a range of stakeholders
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong knowledge of the Building Regulations, Building Act 1984 and associated legislation
• Ability to analyse complex information and make sound regulatory decisions
• Experience managing enforcement cases, including dangerous structures and unauthorised works
• Ability to produce clear technical reports and communicate complex information effectively
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £50 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £40 per hour PAYE).
