An established, market‑leading software provider is recruiting a Software Development Manager to lead and develop their engineering teams. This is a leadership‑focused role where you'll shape the direction, structure, and performance of the development function, with the opportunity to make a significant impact from day one.

You’ll play a key role in driving best practices, continuous improvement, and modern, scalable delivery processes. Working closely with senior business and technical stakeholders, you’ll help align engineering, product, and organisational goals. The business is also progressing its adoption of Azure Dev Ops, giving you the chance to influence tooling, workflows, and CI/CD standards across the department.

• Lead software development teams and provide strategic leadership across related functions such as QA and Product.
• Manage and optimise the full Software Development Lifecycle to support business objectives and maintain high delivery standards.
• Drive continuous improvement across development processes, engineering practices, and automation.
• Define and monitor KPIs for delivery performance, quality, and team productivity.
• Oversee and support the organisation’s migration to Azure Dev Ops, including planning, governance, training, and CI/CD pipeline integration.
• Mentor, coach, and develop team members to strengthen capability and support their ongoing growth.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align delivery, technology decisions, and product vision.
• Ensure consistency and optimisation across CI/CD pipelines, version control, and project management workflows.
• Attend customer site visits, conferences, and user groups to support product insight and requirement gathering.

• 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
• Demonstrable experience managing end‑to‑end SDLC in complex environments.
• Proven leadership across multi‑disciplinary teams (Software Engineering, QA, Product).
• Strong track record working with senior stakeholders to shape technology and product direction.
• Hands‑on experience driving continuous improvement across engineering practices.
• Ability to define, track, and report on KPIs for delivery quality and team effectiveness.
• Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops, Jira, and Confluence.
• Exposure to architectural decision‑making for scalable and secure systems.
• Strong understanding of Agile and Dev Ops principles.
• Experience leading organisational or technology change programmes.
• Knowledge of wider Azure services (hosting, monitoring, security).
• Experience supporting or managing a migration to Azure Dev Ops, including CI/CD governance.
