Global Graduate Scheme – Ricardo Automotive & IndustrialThis is a permanent graduate test engineer role in our Test Operations team starting with a 2-year accelerated development programme including technical and soft skills development in a consultancy environment. The scheme is accredited with the IMechE and the IET and we encourage progress to CEng/IEng; we provide an in‑house mentor and cover professional fees.
Your Main Task Responsibilities Would Include- Act as a graduate test engineer on a wide range of test and development work packages – achievement of time, cost and quality requirements, through provision and management of appropriate engineering technology, equipment and processes.
- Plan, commission and run bespoke test rig installations.
- Apply knowledge of transmission and driveline development.
- Support direct selling and hybrid and driveline growth solution sales activities through development and presentation of sales material, proposal generation and development of relationships with customers.
- Prepare development (DVP) plans and specifications to meet customer requirements.
- Supervise and execute test and development activities.
- Analyze and report findings from development activities.
- Problem‑solve, particularly with respect to mechanical development.
- Prepare and execute component, system, transmission, driveline and vehicle testing either at Ricardo or on/off site with the customer:
Experience to include— - Specialist instrumentation.
- Prototype component manufacture.
- Component and system functionality and durability test rigs.
- Functionality and durability vehicle tests.
- Prepare work proposals and project planning activities.
- A 2-year accelerated graduate development programme with a focus on developing Test Engineering skills on a broad range of driveline and transmission projects.

Graduates with a strong desire to work within our industry who have achieved a minimum of 2:1 from Mechanical, Automotive, Motorsport or Aerospace Engineering.
Successful Candidates Will Have- A strong ability to apply fundamental engineering principles. Relevant experience of transmission and driveline systems is essential.
- Initiative and interpersonal skills are required in this customer‑facing role, as are strong written communication and reporting/presentation skills.
- Technical task management of projects.
- Broad engineering knowledge of transmission systems.
- Ability to coordinate and understand information from multiple engineering departments.
- Understand engineering drawings.
- Experience of fault‑finding techniques used in the automotive industry.
- Good project management skills.
- A master’s degree in an engineering or related field.
- Relevant work experience.
- Interest in a mechanical or electrical engineering hobby such as motor sport, restoration projects and/or formula student.
