Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support day-to-day financial operations for a client in Royal Oak, Michigan. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for someone who is organized, dependable, and comfortable managing a steady volume of payables activity with accuracy. The person in this role will handle invoice review, utility payments, and weekly disbursements while working confidently in Quick Books and collaborating effectively with the broader team.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring payment records are complete and up to date.

- Review and assign proper coding to invoices before entry into the accounting system.

- Manage recurring and nonrecurring utility payments while maintaining organized documentation for each transaction.

- Prepare and complete weekly check runs in accordance with internal timelines and approval procedures.

- Enter accounts payable activity into Quick Books and verify that financial data is recorded correctly.

- Reconcile payable details and research discrepancies to support accurate vendor balances.

- Communicate with vendors and internal staff to resolve invoice questions, payment issues, and supporting documentation needs.

- Maintain orderly accounts payable files and assist with reporting tasks using Microsoft Excel as needed. Requirements - At least 2 years of hands-on accounts payable experience in a business environment.

- Working knowledge of Quick Books with the ability to enter, track, and review payable transactions accurately.

- Experience coding invoices and processing payments with strong attention to detail.

- Familiarity with weekly check runs and standard accounts payable controls.

- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet recurring deadlines.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for basic tracking, reconciliation, and reporting tasks.

- Prior experience in a law office or similar services setting is helpful.
