DescriptionPriory Hospital Kneesworth House is looking to recruit a Maintenance Assistant to join the team. This is a full time role of 37.5 hours. Located in Royston, Hertfordshire, within a purpose‑built facility and spacious grounds, Priory Hospital Kneesworth House is a level 2 rehabilitation service, which provides a range of specialist recovery pathways, all at one site.
The hospital also provides acute and psychiatric intensive care, medium and low secure services, and bespoke therapeutic placements. Priory’s acute and PICU services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out‑of‑area patients back to local areas.

What you'll be doingYou’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day‑to‑day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.
- Maintains a well‑decorated, safe and comfortable environment throughout the site, in line with quality standards, and follows work processes which comply with statutory regulations.
- Ensures that Priory minimum standards are delivered in all site areas in a timely and efficient manner, as part of a team.
- Identifies and reports damage, faults and other related issues to the Maintenance Manager (and then actions as agreed) to ensure that environmental conditions continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations.
- Carry out General Maintenance tasks as defined in the Appendix and in the General Property Maintenance Guide.

The ideal candidate will possess basic numeracy and literacy skills, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. They should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining a customer‑focused attitude and demonstrating a strong team working ethic. Experience or understanding in a building, plumbing, mechanical, or electrical discipline would be highly desirable.
