We are working on behalf of a nationwide non‑profit organisation that provides a residential respite home for children aged 4‑18 years with disabilities, including autism, complex health needs and/or complex behaviours. The home offers a safe, structured, and stimulating environment, staffed by skilled professionals including nurses.
We give parents and carers the opportunity to “recharge their batteries,” knowing their child is supported in a caring environment that puts children first. Our focus is ensuring that children always experience life as children first, while receiving the care and support they need.
About the RoleWe are seeking an Experienced Registered Manager to lead our Squirrels Short Breaks service. You will oversee a highly skilled team, ensuring high‑quality, safe care for children with complex needs. You will be responsible for maintaining Ofsted and CQC standards, supporting staff, and ensuring each child's individual care and health needs are met. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong leadership, clinical awareness, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
Children'sNeeds
Children attending the service may have:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Learning disabilities, complex emotional needs, communication needs including non‑verbal children, and sensory needs
- Complex physical health needs, including epilepsy, tracheostomy care, gastrostomy feeding, respiratory support
- Life‑limiting or life‑threatening conditions
- Dual diagnoses (e.g., Autism with ADHD, or physical disabilities with learning disabilities)
Children may require complex nursing care and interventions, and staff must be competent in areas including: tracheostomy care, suctioning, oxygen administration, gastrostomy feeding, emergency medication, physiotherapy support, and other specialist interventions.
About You- Competent in clinical decision‑making and supporting children with complex needs
- Skilled at leading and supporting staff, maintaining a safe, structured environment
- Knowledgeable about Ofsted and CQC regulations
- Able to maintain high standards of care under pressure
- Passionate about helping children thrive and experience a happy, child‑first environment
- Experience managing children's residential short breaks or similar services
- Clinical experience or nursing knowledge in children's complex health needs
