Introduction
An exciting opportunity exists for an honest, dedicated, hardworking, and results-driven Mineral Resource Manager to join one of South Africa’s leading chrome mining operations based in Rustenburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for mineral resource and reserve estimation, orebody modelling, and resource optimisation, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Purpose of the RoleTo undertake and collate the company’s mineral resource and reserve estimations, ensuring the highest standards of technical accuracy, data integrity, and compliance with geological and mining best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive mineral resource evaluations, applying geostatistical and modelling techniques.
- Provide strategic recommendations for optimal extraction and long-term resource planning.
- Collaborate with Mine Planning, Rock Engineering, and Survey teams to enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead and contribute to resource development projects, ensuring compliance with the SAMREC Code and other industry standards.
- Manage risk identification and mitigation strategies to ensure sustainable, safe mining operations.
- Prepare detailed resource and reserve reports to support decision-making and operational planning.
- Support due diligence processes and audits as required by management and stakeholders.
- Continuously improve resource modelling systems and methodologies.
- BSc Degree in Geology (postgraduate qualification advantageous).
- Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in mineral resource management and evaluation.
- Proven experience in chrome or similar commodity mining environments.
- Strong proficiency in geological modelling and estimation software (Datamine, Surpac, Micromine, etc.).
- Solid background in Survey, Rock Engineering, and Mine Planning.
- Sound understanding of South African mining legislation and SAMREC reporting standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to safety and operational excellence.
