Overview
Team Leader role at Uppingham School. Part‑time contract (32.5–36 hours per week, 6 days a week). Salary £19,651.02 – £25,747.85 per annum.
Base Pay RangeContract:
Part time – 32.5 to 36 hours per week.
Supervise all cleaning activities within academic buildings and lead a team of Domestic Cleaners to maintain high standards of cleaning.
Working Hours- 5.25 hours/day, 8:30am‑2:25pm – 32 weeks/year plus 105 annual clean‑down hours.
- 5.25 hours/day, 8:30am‑2:25pm – 52 weeks/year.
- 6 hours/day, 6:00am‑12:30pm – 52 weeks/year.
- Provide a welcoming environment to pupils, parents, contractors, and visitors.
- Complete daily/weekly cleaning tasks to a high standard.
- Organise and amend cleaning schedules as required, including for staff absences and term changes.
- Induct, coach, and appraise new staff to ensure performance standards.
- Conduct cleaning standard checks, give feedback, and report to senior management as needed.
- Monitor and manage cleaning product stock.
- Report equipment faults and ensure equipment is repaired or replaced before use.
- Record staff absences and conduct return‑to‑work interviews.
- Support domestic staff during Buttery service.
- Comply fully with health & safety, hygiene, COSHH, and Infection Control guidelines and the School Health & Safety Policies.
- Wear issued uniform and keep it clean and presentable.
- Attend required professional training and keep up to date with online training.
- Assist colleagues in other areas as required and carry out other ad‑hoc tasks.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Previous cleaning experience.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures.
- Effective communication skills.
- Reasonable numeracy and literacy.
- Ability to organise workload and balance priorities to meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Knowledge of health & safety requirements (desirable).
- Understanding of COSHH (desirable).
- Experience using industrial cleaning equipment (desirable).
- Friendly and approachable.
- Can work with minimum supervision.
- Works well with others.
- Sets high standards of work.
- Good time‑keeping.
- Deals with colleagues, pupils and parents in a pleasant and helpful manner.
