In our Land Engineering Division, we need Safety Engineers involved in delivery and support in our operations teams involved in the following areas :

  • Weapons – munitions and weapon systems ranging from small calibre bombs and bullets through to strategic missile systems.
  • Land Equipment – small calibre pistols, through military “laser quest” systems to main battle tanks and self‑propelled howitzers
  • The Integrated Battlespace – a diverse portfolio including communications and networks, together with some more classified capabilities. Covering areas as wide as the battlefield, some reaching into space.

Responsibilities for Safety Engineer

As a Safety Engineer your role will be to provide advice, support and guidance to internal and external parties, advising on engineering design and development, and management of safety risk. You’ll identify solutions to reduce the risk to military personnel on the front line.

Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to, the following :

  • Work with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance with relevant UK and EU legislation and regulations, MOD regulations and DE&S Policy.
  • Lead the development and management of Safety Cases at Project level.
  • Provide specialist advice on the application of Safety Management systems.
  • Lead production and contribute to Safety Management Plans.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of policy and process to satisfy the DE&S corporate standards for Acquisition Safety Management.
What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria :

  • Level 4 Qualification (HNC or NQF or above) in a relevant safety, engineering or science discipline.
  • Experience of providing technical advice and delivery of safety products or services, in a work environment.
  • Experience in the use of System Safety Management Tools and Processes.
