IT Systems Engineer (Hybrid)

Location: Contract Support Office

Reporting to: Technology Operations Lead

Responsible for: None (no direct reports)

We are looking for an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join our Technology Operations team within the Information & Technology Department. This is primarily an on‑premises infrastructure role, supporting Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and storage systems, while assisting with cloud migration projects as we transition to a Microsoft Azure‑focused strategy.

You will ensure our IT infrastructure is secure, reliable, and optimized for performance, while maintaining compliance with ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, and NIST standards.

• Manage Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and core infrastructure services.
• Maintain and optimize Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) environments (physical and virtual).
• Administer Hyper‑V virtualization, HPE servers, and storage systems (NAS/SAN).
• Implement backup, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity strategies.
• Collaborate with the cybersecurity team on patching, hardening, and threat protection.
• Monitor network performance, server uptime, and system health using tools like Solar Winds.
• Apply best practices in identity and access management (MFA, RBAC, conditional access).
• Assist with cloud migration and Azure workload deployments.
• Ensure compliance with ITIL processes and security frameworks.

• 3+ years in IT Operations, focusing on Windows infrastructure and storage solutions.
• ITIL v4 Foundation certification.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
  • Active Directory / Azure AD / ADFS
  • Hyper‑V virtualization
  • Backup and DR solutions
  • SCCM / SCVMM
• Proficiency in Power Shell scripting and automation.
• Networking fundamentals (firewalls, load balancers).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Solar Winds).
• Excellent problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills.

• Microsoft Certified:
  Azure Administrator Associate (AZ‑104) or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (AZ‑800/801).
• Knowledge of Cisco networking and firewalls.
• Understanding of MOD SCIDA.
