Streetscene Operative

Location:

Salisbury
Salary: £24,413 – £24,796 (£12.65 – £12.85 per hour)

Hours:

37 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 (including weekends and bank holidays)

Salisbury City Council is currently undergoing a job evaluation project.

• Removal of litter
• Servicing street litter bins
• Street sweeping
• Removing weeds, graffiti, fly‑tipping and fly‑posting
• Gathering evidence required for prosecutions
• Driving a Council Streetscene vehicle
• Steam cleaning

• Experience of working independently and as part of a team
• Experience of working outdoors in all conditions and a willingness to complete a number of cleansing tasks as directed
• Capable of working effectively without supervision
• Able to complete daily and weekly task sheets, where appropriate
• Capable of diverting working schedules as directed in response to emerging issues (e.g. spillages, accidents, etc.)
• Build effective working relationships with colleagues
• Physically able to operate a variety of cleansing machinery and undertake a number of cleansing activities including manual cleansing and weeding
• Able to handle bagged and bulky waste and transfer to relative collection areas
• Able to comply with H&S requirements and responsibilities of post
• Flexible, punctual and reliable
• Have an awareness and identify occurring situations
• Friendly, approachable and able to communicate with members of the public
• Attention to detail
• Enthusiastic and self‑motivating
• Has a full driving license – Essential
