Help develop the highly reliable electronic systems and connectivity solutions that enable ASML's EUV source and lithography technology.
As a PCBA Designer at ASML, you’ll lead the design, development, integration, and validation of complex electronic connectivity solutions. You'll help shape electrical architectures involving PCBAs, cabling, interconnects, racks, and subsystem integration while ensuring designs meet demanding EMC, signal integrity, safety, and reliability requirements.
Working in multidisciplinary teams, you'll guide designs from concept through qualification and production while helping define the technologies and engineering practices that support future ASML systems.
Role and responsibilitiesYou’ll serve as a senior technical leader for electronics connectivity and EMC, working across engineering disciplines and with suppliers to develop robust hardware solutions for complex semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
As Senior Electrical Engineer - PCBA Design Engineer, you’ll:
- Lead development of electrical connectivity architectures, including PCBAs, cables, harnesses, racks, cabinets, and subsystem interconnects.
- Define and maintain electronic hardware requirements, specifications, interface definitions, and validation plans.
- Design, review, and qualify PCBAs used in control, monitoring, and communication applications.
- Perform electrical architecture trade studies to optimize performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost.
- Drive EMC/EMI compliance throughout the product development lifecycle, including design reviews, mitigation strategies, and qualification testing.
- Define design rules and layout constraints for signal integrity, grounding, shielding, high-speed interfaces, and EMC performance.
- Support schematic capture, component selection, design verification, and root-cause analysis.
- Lead troubleshooting and failure-analysis activities at the board, module, and system levels.
- Collaborate with system architects, software engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, suppliers, and development partners to deliver robust electronic solutions.
- Review supplier designs and provide technical guidance on electrical design, EMC performance, and qualification readiness.
- Contribute to technology roadmaps involving connectivity, electronics reliability, and high-speed communication interfaces.
- Provide technical guidance in technologies including cPCI, PCIe, PLC, EtherCAT, Ethernet, photodetectors, differential signaling, wideband circuits, high-speed embedded computing, VHDL, distributed signal acquisition, and signal integrity.
- Support project planning activities and communicate technical risks, project status, and mitigation plans to stakeholders and management.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers and project teams.
- Transfer technical knowledge to Manufacturing, Service, and Support organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To help us solve some of the most complex electronics challenges in the semiconductor industry, you'll need significant experience developing high-reliability electronic hardware and integrating electronics into complex systems.
As Senior Electrical Engineer - PCBA Design Engineer, you’ll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; an advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years of industry experience in electronic hardware development.
- At least 5 years of experience designing PCBAs and electronic modules for semiconductor, industrial, aerospace, medical, automotive, or similarly demanding applications.
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit-design fundamentals.
- Knowledge of FPGA design technologies.
