Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their engineering division in Sandton. This role is essential for assessing ground conditions and providing expert advice for a variety of infrastructure and resource development projects within the Oil & Gas industry and beyond. You will be responsible for planning and supervising site investigations, analyzing soil and rock mechanics data, and designing foundations, slopes, and other earth structures.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a proven track record in managing complex geotechnical challenges.
- Plan, manage, and execute geotechnical site investigations , including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to determine engineering properties and behavior.
- Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, slopes, and other geotechnical structures.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, calculations, and drawings for project requirements.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance on construction of geotechnical elements.
- Collaborate with civil engineers, structural engineers, and project managers on diverse projects in the Gauteng region.
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering , with exposure to the Oil & Gas sector .
- Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software (e.g., Plaxis, Geo Studio).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation design principles.
- Experience in site investigation techniques and laboratory testing interpretation.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
