Senior Commercial Underwriter

Key Responsibilities

• New business quotations and policy alterations
• Policy development and issuing
• Review insurance applications for necessary information and accuracy
• Premium calculation
• Explain policy terms and conditions to clients and provide guidance on risk management
• Provide notifications of accounts in arrears to clients and follow up on payments
• Policy retentions
• Processing cancelation instructions from clients and insurers where retention is not possible
• Annual renewals and policy reviews
• Document management and record keeping
• Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment of insurance processes
• Engage in continuous learning and development
• Adherence to company standard operating procedures and service level agreements

Experience and Qualification

• Minimum 7 years of commercial underwriting experience in a binder broker environment
• Candidate is required to have their RE5 certificate, relevant NQF qualification and CPD points
• Must have experience in Marine & Engineering Insurance
• Previous experience with Cardinal C360 is a requirement
• Must be proficient in Word and Excel
• Candidate must have their own transport
