Here's how a Accountant for PCL Construction Management Inc. within Saskatoon contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Performs general district accounting, project accounting and administrative duties promptly and accurately, ensuring all transactions and reports comply with company policies, contract terms and applicable legislation.
  • Responsible for the full accounts payable cycle, including vendor setup, invoice processing, and cheque runs.
  • Assembles client billing packages in accordance with contract terms and ensure timely payment.
  • Processes weekly payroll costing allocations accurately and on schedule.
  • Prepares bank deposits, complete monthly account reconciliations, and record cash receipt entries.
  • Collects and review subcontractor compliance documents to ensure alignment with contract requirements.
  • Identifies any irregularities or risk exposure and contribute to developing strategies for resolution.
  • Communicates compliance and project risks to project teams and accounting management, assisting wtih risk mitigation efforts.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers to monitor budgets, analyze cost variances, and provide financial insights and financial reports that support effective forecasting and decision-making.
  • Prepares information for both internal and external financial reporting requirements, including month end and year end reports for head office.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience in construction or a related industry preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of full-cycle accounting and project forecasting and budgeting.
  • Intermediate knowledge of government legislation and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Intermediate knowledge of project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements as related to accounting.
  • Understands and complies with all labor agreements, government legislation, and PCL policies and procedures.
  • Intermediate understanding of owner contracts as they relate to payment terms, billing requirements, audit rights, and cost-of-work definition, insurance, and bonding.
