Join Hatch’s Project Delivery Group (PDG) as a Senior Structural Hydro Engineer. In this role you will support and execute hydro and dam related projects across Canada and globally, ensuring technical excellence and contributing to the success of our Hydropower and Dams team.

• Assist the Engineering Manager/Lead Structural Engineer with project delivery, ensuring scope, cost and schedule alignment.
• Implement safety and integrity principles in structural documentation.
• Maintain structural engineering procedures, specifications and CAD programs.
• Prepare engineering calculations and technical specifications for concrete and steel structures at hydropower stations, substations and dams.
• Contribute to technical memos and reports within areas of expertise.
• Support engineering, operating and capital cost estimates.
• Prepare and/or review project standard specifications and design criteria.
• Perform dam safety reviews.
• Stamp documents and drawings as required and where appropriately registered.
• Manage small capital and maintenance projects.
• Conduct site visits for review, inspection and assessment of existing structures.
• Assist in preparing proposals.

• Recognized degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Master’s degree in structural engineering considered an asset.
• Registration as a professional engineer, or active candidate registration towards professional registration or regional equivalent.
• 10+ years of project engineering experience, with at least 8 years on hydropower projects, including:
  • Stability analyses of dams and related structures.
  • Analysis and design of hoist supporting structures and hoist towers.
  • Seismic analysis of structural steel hoist towers and concrete dam structures (Response Spectrum and Time History).
  • Design of powerhouse structures, turbine foundations, substructure and superstructure.
  • Design of penstocks (buried, above ground, liners).
  • Design of gate structures (Vertical, Radial gates, Bulkheads, Stoplogs).
  • Balance of Plant design for hydroelectric facilities (concrete and steel structures, platforms, cranes, monorails).
• Sound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards.
• Experience with Math Cad, Staad Pro, SAP 2000 or similar structural analysis software.
• Sound knowledge of 3D data‑centric design systems.
• Experience in the use of procedures and workflows in project execution.
