Job Title:
Mechanical/ Piping Estimator
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Mechanical Estimator who will be responsible for the effective preparation of detailed estimates for Industrial Projects. This includes the responsibility for estimating major projects and contributing significantly to marketing the company and its services.
Reports To:
Senior Operations Manager Accountability:
Preparing mechanical estimates for major projects based on preliminary sketches, specifications and other related information; preparing accurate cost estimates of resources required for tendered projects; contacting and receiving quotations from suppliers and trades; and preparing spreadsheets with supplier information and quotes.Prepares and writes proposal, quotes and bid forms or submissions as required.Works to define battery limits for the scope of work between self-performed work and subcontractors.Analyzing tender documents and contractual obligations for projects.Analyzes quotes from sub-contractors and evaluates the best option.Assesses drawings and specifications, while making innovative solutions to complex construction challenges.Builds relationships with internal and external clients, vendors and suppliers.Responsible to adhere to the safety and quality standards for each job.Works to handover and support successful bids to the project/construction team.Provides coverage for Project Coordinator or other Roles as required.All other duties as assigned by the Senior Operations ManagerQualifications:
3-10 Years’ Experience as an estimator for construction projects3-10 Years Hands-on experience with Industrial Mechanical construction projects or Construction In generalRelevant Degree (P Eng, EIT, Mech Tech) or Journey person certification.Nuclear Experience an AssetExperience with Proposal or Technical Writing an AssetKnowledge of Code Requirements Ideal Position Requirements:Positive, self-motivated, driven individual with a team attitudeSelf-Starter who will strive to meet or exceed deadlines with minimal supervision.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam.Knowledge of Estimating Methods, Software, and Data BasisExperience Construction Schedules, Microsoft Project or P6 PrimaveraStrong mathematical and analytical skills to prepare estimates and analyze cost reports.Flexibility to travel to project sites throughout Canada.Previous industrial site and project experience is considered a strong asset.Effective verbal and listening skills. & Strong time management skills.Working Environment:
Work is performed in an office setting. Some travel to site will be required.Location - can be hybrid (Our Client's head office Saskatoon, SK)
