Overview:
EHN Complex Needs Emergency Facility Saskatoon is specifically designed to support individuals with elevated and unique needs. This facility provides essential services to people who require specialized emergency shelter support, where clients are accommodated based upon an assessment of their needs with the purpose of delivering services to clients within the community.
The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a member of an interdisciplinary team that provides medical care, recovery therapies and programs, and everyday care and support to clients in Detox and addictions residential treatment. The RN/LPN provides nursing care to clients, administers medications in accordance with organizational and pharmaceutical policies and procedures, and provides support to the Nursing Team and Physician as directed.
The RN/LPN supports its clients in recovery in a myriad of practical and therapeutic ways including: supporting recovery strategies, assisting with client needs, listening empathetically, and more.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Delivering client care according to the College of Licensed Practical Nurses or College of Nurses of SaskatchewanProviding ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning implementation and evaluation.Formulating and implementing client care plans.Safely implementing physician’s orders.Administering medications to clients.Maintaining current progress records on clients according to legal and ethical standards.Orientating, facilitating and reinforcing client’s involvement in addiction treatment.Decide and initiate on course of action in case of medical emergenciesProviding supportive counselling to clients, families and/or significant others on typical recovery issues.Maintain a therapeutic environment on the unit conducive to the client learning productive patterns of living.Providing ongoing health teaching to clients in relation to common health problems and the clients maintaining a healthy lifestyle.Co-ordinate individual client appointments and referrals.Actively participate with team members in the assessment, planning and evaluation of the client and his care.Assisting the public with crisis intervention and information on addiction.Perform other duties as outlined on shift duty lists and as assigned by the Nursing Supervisor.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of LPN/RN with pharmacological trainingLicensed Practical Nurse / Registered Nurse registered in the Province of SaskatchewanCurrent basic CPRRecent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership dutiesDemonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basisLeadership /Charge experience preferredStrong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skillsGood problem solving and decision-making skillsDemonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy liftingKnowledge of / experience with a team based person-centered care approachDemonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary teamEmployee Benefits and Perks:
