Job Title:
Site Civil Engineer Role Purpose
The Site Civil Engineer is responsible for planning, designing and overseeing the construction and maintenance of infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, buildings and utilities. The role focuses on ensuring that projects are executed in compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements and within budget and timelines. The engineer will lead a team to ensure project quality, safety and sustainability, and will contribute to continuous improvement of project-management processes.
KeyActivities
Project Design & Planning:
Develop and prepare detailed engineering designs, conduct site surveys and feasibility studies, collaborate with architects/consultants, and create project timelines and budgets.
Project Execution & Management:
Oversee day to day activities on construction sites, monitor progress and resolve issues, supervise contractors/subcontractors, ensure proper material handling and quality control, and conduct regular inspections.
Compliance & Safety Management:
Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, implement and monitor safety protocols, conduct safety audits and obtain necessary permits.
Project Reporting & Documentation:
Generate progress reports, maintain accurate documentation of designs and construction activities, manage project files and provide cost/time estimates.
Team Leadership & Development:
Provide guidance to junior engineers and on site staff, promote a collaborative work environment, participate in recruitment and training, and support continuous skill development within the team.
Minimum of 1 year experience in civil engineering focused on infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction processes and materials used in civil projects.
Proven track record in managing construction projects with quality control, budget and timeline oversight.
Experience with project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Primavera).
Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
Education & CertificationMinimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
Professional engineering certification (e.g. PE, PMP) preferred.
Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g. ASCE) is beneficial.
Technical SkillsProficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other relevant tools.
Strong knowledge of project management and construction management practices.
Familiarity with construction cost estimating, budgeting and scheduling techniques.
Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, teams and external stakeholders.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve engineering challenges effectively on site.
