Design Engineer

Location: Scunthorpe
We are a market leader in the manufacture of high-quality rigid truck bodies and tipping equipment. Known for engineering excellence, innovation, and a commitment to robust design, we are seeking a talented Design Engineer to join our team in Scunthorpe.
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating, developing, and refining CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation for a wide range of fabricated structures and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
 
* Produce detailed models and drawings using Solid Works.
 
* Design components and assemblies for heavy engineering, sheet metal, and fabricated structures.
 
* Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure accuracy throughout the design lifecycle.
 
* Carry out drawing revisions, version control, and change documentation.
 
* Liaise with production teams to ensure engineered designs are practical, manufacturable, and to specification.
 
* Review and check engineering drawings and paperwork to maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance.
 
* Contribute to continuous improvement and product optimisation initiatives.
 
* Work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels in a well-organised, professional, and proactive manner.
About You
We are looking for an engineer with strong problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple design tasks simultaneously. You should be methodical, organised, and comfortable working to tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
Essential Skills & Experience
 
* Degree-level qualification or comparable industry experience.
 
* Proficient in Solid Works (3D modelling, assemblies, and technical drawings).
 
* Proven experience within heavy engineering, sheet metal, or fabrication design.
 
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
 
* Experience producing and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
 
* Excellent attention to detail, meticulous approach to drawings and documentation.
 
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
 
* Experience performing or interpreting FEA. (desirable)
