We are a market leader in the manufacture of high-quality rigid truck bodies and tipping equipment. Known for engineering excellence, innovation, and a commitment to robust design, we are seeking a talented Design Engineer to join our team in Scunthorpe.
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating, developing, and refining CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation for a wide range of fabricated structures and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities- Produce detailed models and drawings using Solid Works.
- Design components and assemblies for heavy engineering, sheet metal, and fabricated structures.
- Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure accuracy throughout the design lifecycle.
- Carry out drawing revisions, version control, and change documentation.
- Liaise with production teams to ensure engineered designs are practical, manufacturable, and to specification.
- Review and check engineering drawings and paperwork to maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and product optimisation initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels in a well‑organised, professional, and proactive manner.
We are looking for an engineer with strong problem‑solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple design tasks simultaneously. You should be methodical, organised, and comfortable working to tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
Essential Skills & Experience- Degree‑level qualification or comparable industry experience.
- Proficient in Solid Works (3D modelling, assemblies, and technical drawings).
- Proven experience within heavy engineering, sheet metal, or fabrication design.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Experience producing and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Excellent attention to detail, meticulous approach to drawings and documentation.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Experience performing or interpreting FEA (desirable).
