Overview
A leading packaging manufacturer in the Scunthorpe area is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their team on a Panama shift pattern.
RoleMechanical Maintenance Technician
Salary£19.50 per hour + Company bonus (Circa £46,000 per annum)
The key responsibilities of the Mechanical Maintenance Technician role- Carry out installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, assemblies, and components.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on equipment, including basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Conduct basic fault analysis and identify early signs of mechanical failure.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and industry standards.
- Use and maintain relevant measurement instruments and mechanical tools.
- Participate in scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Support the implementation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) practices and other operational systems.
- Inspect and verify the accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or sub-assemblies.
- Collaborate with other departments and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist operators in routine machinery upkeep and minor maintenance tasks.
- Support training efforts and cooperate with external personnel such as agency workers and contractors.
- Consistently wear and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures, regulations, and policies.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, BRC, and other relevant standards adopted by the company.
- Dress in accordance with applicable Health & Safety requirements.
- Perform additional tasks of a similar nature as reasonably assigned and in line with the role.
- Proven experience in a similar maintenance engineering role within fast-paced manufacturing environments (e.g., Automotive, Food, FMCG).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems such as hydraulics, gearboxes, bearings, etc.
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Willingness to work Panama shifts.
- NVQ Level 3 qualification or time-served apprenticeship.
