Wood is recruiting for a Senior Piping Engineer to join our UAE Business unit. This is a full-time office-based role in Sharjah, UAE with business trips.

• Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment.
• Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.
• Ensures successful completion of the assigned project/phase within budget, time and cost constraints.
• Participates in defining engineering approaches and in planning and scheduling work.
• Evaluates problems, organizes investigations and establishes performance specifications for components and systems.
• Checks engineering calculations and drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards.
• Adheres to discipline‑specific procedures and provides feedback for continuous improvement.
• Participates in audits and incident investigations as required.
• Performs complex engineering tasks related to specific units of major projects.
• Attends site visits, project review meetings, design reviews and workshops.
• Organises and actively participates in design reviews.

• May supervise a small work group with coaching by a supervisor or provide guidance to others.
• Assists in managerial tasks such as assigning tasks, planning, coordinating, preparing scopes, schedules, budgets, and developing less‑experienced professionals.
• Discusses with senior engineers to agree priorities and implications on others' work.
• Approves work schedules and recommends increased resources or special equipment.
• Coordinates activities of engineering and design groups for small projects.
• Provides appropriate HSSE leadership and compliance with safety requirements.

• Solves complex problems, developing new approaches or applying existing ones creatively.
• Modifies guidelines, devises new approaches, and applies criteria in new ways.
• Functions as a technical leader or significant contributor to major complex projects.
• Produces innovative ideas and solutions for complex technical problems.
• Applies professional judgment to formulate results based on engineering standards.
• Develops unique solutions, anticipates potential problems and takes initiative.
• Understands customer needs and applies technical solutions to meet goals.
• Provides technical input to proposals as required.

• Expected:
  
  B.Sc. or equivalent degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 10+ years relevant experience in major Brownfield oil & gas projects, including at least five years in a similar position.
• Specific experience in Oil and Gas projects across their lifecycle in the GCC region (preferred).
• Pre‑FEED, FEED experience required.
• Detailed Engineering experience preferred.
• Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates.
• Professional level of knowledge of applicable codes, standards, processes and procedures.
• Ability to guide, manage, motivate and mentor professional engineers.
• Strong communication, negotiation, motivation, analysis, and project planning skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in applying advanced laws, principles, and mathematics to improve designs.
• High commitment to safety, strong organisational and detail orientation, adaptability, and integrity.
