• Managing transactions with customers using cash registers.
• Scanning goods and ensuring pricing is accurate.
• Collecting payments whether in cash or credit.
• Accepting payments, ensuring all prices and quantities are accurate, and proving a receipt to every customer.
• Processing refunds and exchanges, resolving complaints.
• Issue receipts, refunds, change or tickets.
• Cashiers are often the last point of contact between the customer and the store.
• Cashiers ring up purchases by scanning barcodes, entering prices manually, or using a cash register.
• Cashiers are responsible for handling cash transactions accurately.
• Providing excellent customer service is an important aspect of the cashier role.
• Cashiers may be trained to detect counterfeit currency, prevent theft, and report suspicious activity to store management or security personnel.
• Cashiers may be responsible for keeping their workstations clean and organized, ensuring the area is presentable to customers.

• Most cashier positions do not require a formal education beyond a high school diploma.
• Cashiers need to be proficient in basic math.
• Prior experience in cash handling is preferred.
