Role Description
This is a senior, full‑time role acting as the public face of the company.
Developing and maintaining research and development programmes to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of the industry, applying the most cost‑effective methods and approaches, providing a leading‑edge service and retaining its USP and competitivity.
Key responsibilities include driving new business, developing strategic partnerships, creating and implementing revenue growth strategies through new member recruitment, and building and maintaining strong relationships with current members. Identifying other growth opportunities, coordinating trading terms, optimising account performance, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Arranging regular meetings to discuss business and strategy to forge strong relationships with independent retailers and industry suppliers.
Additional responsibilities include sales & marketing management, motivating the teams.
Overseeing and playing an active part in brand development and representation.
Approaching and negotiating with potential new suppliers.
Organising and attending events, shows, conferences, awards representing the company.
Choosing and liaising with a charity for annual Cardgains Charity Challenge, organising the event and promoting.
Choosing venue and negotiating cost for Christmas celebration, liaising with event coordinator to organise.
Producing reports for quarterly board meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in greeting card and gift industry.
- Strong relationship‑building, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in high‑level sales in the industry.
- Analytical skills for identifying growth opportunities and optimising business operations.
- Organisational and time‑management abilities.
- Passion for independent retail, greeting cards, or giftware sectors is essential.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed revenue and performance targets.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
